Digital Printing Bandanas
Sino Silk’s digital printing on bandanas operates like a standard office printer, supporting both simple and intricate designs in any color using advanced inkjet technology. The process begins with pretreatment, or sizing, which helps the ink integrate well with the fabric. Once the fabric is pretreated and dried, it is fed into the printer. After printing, the bandanas undergo steaming to fix the colors, washing to remove excess sizing and dyes, and softening for a smooth finish.
Traditional digital printing can only print on one side, leaving the backside color lighter. Thicker fabrics can further lessen the color intensity on the reverse side. However, the latest double-sided printing technology solves this by allowing vibrant, consistent color on both sides or even different colors on each side, though at a higher cost. Sino Silk’s double-sided printing is popular with custom silk bandanas.

Screen Printing Bandanas
Screen printing divides the design into separate colors, each transferred to a screen coated with a photosensitive emulsion. The emulsion is exposed to UV light, leaving a mesh pattern that allows ink to pass through while blocking non-design areas. During printing, ink is poured onto the screen, and then pressed through onto the fabric, which is placed on a heated table to cure and dry the ink.
Screen printing offers both hand and machine options. Hand screen printing provides finer color detail, while machine screen printing suits large orders at a lower cost, though with a little reduced detail quality.

Dye Sublimation Bandanas
Dye sublimation printing transfers designs from medium paper onto the bandana fabric resorted to heat and pressure. This process turns ink into gas, allowing it to penetrate the fabric fibers and become permanently bonded. Sublimation printing is a fast and efficient method that skips steps like sizing, steaming, and washing, saving both time and cost and thus the best choice for Christmas bandanas and other not commonly used types. However, sublimation is only effective on polyester-based fabrics (either 100% polyester or high-poly blends). While it can be used on cotton, the color fades easily and lacks durability. Sublimation is not compatible with natural fibers or protein fabrics.
